As an important moment for contemporary creation that captures what’s “in the air” as much as it invents the future, the Maison & Objet trade fair on January 22 to 26 north of Paris will welcome, as it does each year, thousands of professionals and individuals looking to discover trends and innovations for wall coverings, lighting, curtains and furniture.
Because an enormous number of everyday objects that have become essential to our lives have been introduced there, because it’s always been at the cutting edge of emerging phenomenons and because the company walks hand-in-hand with designers : Sophie Hallette could not miss the event ! The company has always been present at the fair through its collaboration with designer Hervé Matejewski, who has exhibited at Maison&Objet since he was chosen “Designer of the Year – Scènes d’Interieur” in 1999, right after he opened his company.
This avant-garde designer, who just opened a Paris showroom for the general public**, has always integrated unexpected materials (aluminum) and inventive technologies (photography) in his fashion and home decoration work, often before other designers. And he’s not only a fan of feathers, fur and sequins that he reworks and places on unexpected grounds … he also loves lace ! Especially the most beautiful designs from Sophie Hallette that he has used this season to cover cushions, lamps … even punching balls !
A few ounces of poetry in a tough world : the expression fits Hervé Matejewski perfectly. His mix of delicateness, strength and inventivity is guaranteed to fascinate this season’s visitors at Maison & Objet !
